What is A CSA?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. By purchasing a "share", you are investing in our farm. In return, we provide you with a weekly supply of fresh vegetables and herbs. This program allows us to have financial capital early in the season for seeds, marketing, equipment repair, new tools, etc. By owning a "share" in our farm you take on some of our risk. We are not immune to crop failures due to natural disasters, pests, plant diseases, etc. However, becoming a CSA member has real benefits for you. Your veggies are reserved at the market. You get the “first fruits” of every harvest. You help build and sustain a locally owned business. Being a member of a CSA helps you eat seasonally by supplying you weekly with the best of what is regionally grown. The CSA program is the backbone of our farm. Agriculture and farming is more than just a business for us. We value growing food that supports healthy lives and healthy ecosystems! We love being interactive with our members and seeing how local food can benefit all of us.

How our CSA Works

The CSA will be 20 weeks, beginning mid-April through early October, with exact dates being confirmed closer to the start date. We plan to take several weeks off during the months of August and September, but those dates will be decided during the season to ensure summer treats like melons, corn, etc make it into our boxes!

Each week is valued at $32/week which includes a small admin and supplies fee. This means that you will get a diverse and abundant box each week valued anywhere from $30 - $40 in produce, or typically 7-8 different items.

Boxes will be pre-packed and we will have them ready for you at your chosen pickup location (see below for more details on pickup locations).

What to expect

At Sweeter Days Farm we focus on growing the highest quality vegetables selected for flavor and nutrition. We grow lots of brassicas, greens, lettuce, roots, peppers, tomatoes, and herbs! Our box is appropriate for families or for couples who eat vegetables regularly. If it’s just one person, you may consider splitting your share with a friend.

We try to include fresh culinary herbs in every share as well. We typically have chives, thyme, oregano, rosemary, basil, dill, cilantro and sage.

HONEY SHARE

This year we are partnering with The Honey Collective, hosting some hives on our farm property and offering sales of their honey both through our CSA program and at our market table in Clarksville.

The Honey Collective offers two honey share sizes, described below. Customers can purchase a honey share at the beginning of the beekeeping season, choosing the size that best fits their needs.

After purchasing a share, customers will receive their honey in two installments, once in the early summer and once in the early fall. This delivery schedule helps us guarantee customers that they will get to taste various honeys from diverse apiaries throughout the season. It also coincides with primary honey harvesting time frames in Middle Tennessee.

A full share is $250 and includes 12 x 1 pound jars of honey.

A half share is $130 and includes 6 x 1 pound jars of honey.

Read more about The Honey Collective and their shares here.

MUSHROOM SHARE

We are also excited to be partnering with The Nashville Farmacy to offer a mushroom add on with our CSA. This will be a mix of the best mushrooms they have each week including Lion’s Mane, Blue Oyster, Pink Oyster, Italian Oyster, and other exotic varieties.

A full share will be 10 oz of mushrooms weekly, $12/week for a total of $240.

A half share will be 10 oz of mushrooms every other week for a total of $120.

Payments for mushroom shares must be made in full at the time of purchase. Please specify whether you’d like to pick up on the farm or at the Clarksville Downtown Market.

Testimonials

What former CSA members have said about their shares…

“Your produce was unfailingly fresh and delicious and gorgeous…“

“Your CSA program far exceeded our expectations! We decided on a whim to put some of our stimulus payment toward a share, not expecting much because of family member's poor experiences with other CSA programs, but thinking that at least the money would go to a good cause even if we did not gain much from it. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity and taken the chance, and we have been amazed by the variety, quality and amount of vegetables each week; your consistency and reliability; and the value for the price…”

“I cannot thank you enough for sharing your love of great gardening. I so enjoyed all that you grew. I also enjoyed trying the new veggies that weren’t in my weekly rotation. You opened my eyes and pallet to a whole new world of veggies.”
